The 33rd Annual Congress of the Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia (ATCSA) will be held in Manila, Philippines, from November 20 to 23, 2025, at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. This year’s congress carries deep historical significance, as it brings the ATCSA community back to where it all began.
The Philippines holds the unique honor of being the birthplace of ATCSA, having hosted the very first ATCSA Congress in 1972 in Manila. That inaugural meeting marked the formal establishment of the association, setting in motion decades of regional collaboration, the exchange of expertise, and advancements in thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgery. Since then, the Philippines has continued to play a pivotal role in the association's growth. In November 2005, Manila once again welcomed the international surgical community for the 17th Biennial Congress of ATCSA, held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. The same prestigious venue will host the 2025 congress. A decade later, in November 2015, the Philippines hosted the 25th Annual Congress of ATCSA, reaffirming its commitment to fostering innovation and camaraderie among Asian cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons.
Now, as the host of the 33rd Annual Congress, the Philippines is proud to continue this legacy under the theme: "Innovations in Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery." ATCSA 2025 will showcase the latest breakthroughs in surgical techniques, technology, and patient care, while also honoring the Association’s rich heritage.
With world-renowned speakers, cutting-edge scientific sessions, and a vibrant cultural backdrop, ATCSA 2025 in Manila promises to be a memorable milestone — a celebration of the past, a commitment to the present, and a vision for the future of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Asia and beyond.
